Intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian carcinoma

Dear Dr.Paul
Busyspr notes:
Treatment options for patients with optimally cytoreduced stage III disease:
Intra-peritoneal chemotherapy
Using cisplatin or paclitaxel is associated with longer progression-free survival and overall survival compared to intravenous chemotherapy.
Toxic effects are greater in women receiving intra-peritoneal chemotherapy
The rate of completion of six cycles of treatment is also less frequent in women receiving intra-peritoneal chemotherapy because of the toxic effects and catheter-related problems
NICE guidelines 2011
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy
Do not offer intraperitoneal chemotherapy to women with ovarian cancer, except as part of a clinical trial.
Can we use intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian carcinoma. Could you please clarify this also.
