age & abruptio placenta risk

age & abruptio placenta risk Posted by nee P.

Dear Paul

Want clarification for MCQ in module - bleeding in pregnancy,

Following are risk factors for placental abruption

Increasing maternal age- answer on this site states FALSE,          but in TOG vol 13 the explaination is as follows..so I am bit confused--             Obstetric complications include an increased risk of gestational diabetes,which over
the age of 40 years has an odds ratio (OR) of 2.4
(adjusted for race, parity and body mass index);placenta praevia (OR 2.8); abruption (OR 2.3);
caesarean section (OR 2.0); fetal growth restriction;
malpresentation; venous thrombosis; and
premature birth (Box 1).12–14 Chronic hypertension

Thanks
and pre-eclampsia are, similarly,more common
with age.
