I bumped on a bit of contradiction in the notes (see below) I was also wondering whether anything is known regarding the risks of perinatal morbidity/mortality specifically for twin 2 and last but not least, the mortality quoted for twins, does this include the very early demise of 1 twin in 1st trimester as well ???
Thanx, Ron
• Internal podalic version and breech extraction have a higher success rate with no increase in neonatal morbidity but require an experienced operator.
• The risk of serious morbidity associated with internal podalic version - complications include cord prolapse, inadvertent delivery of hand or shoulder, fetal trauma during breech delivery, placental abruption, fetal anoxia and endometritis - this procedure should not be undertaken in modern obstetric care
